Idaho has many natural resources. An example of some natural resources in Idaho is timber, fossils, rich minerals such as gold, silver, lead, zinc, cobalt, copper, gems such as star garnets, jasper, opal, jade, topaz, zircon, and tourmaline. Also Idaho has thick forests, fertile soil, and abundant water supplies.
Climate of Idaho
What is climate in Idaho? Well, the annual average percentage of sunshine in the northern part of Idaho is about 50% and in the southern part of Idaho about 70%. In the winter there is a lot of cloudy weather so the average amount of sunshine decreases to about 40% in the south and less than 30% in the north. During July and August the average percentage rises above 80% in the south and west, and near 80% in the east and north. During precipitation in sizeable areas in Clearwater, Payette, and Boise River Basins receive an average of 40 to 50 inches of water per year. But a few points or small areas receive about 60 inches of water. In the northern part of Idaho snowfall nearly reached up to 500 inches in the past. Usually northern parts of Idaho gets more snowfall than the southern part of Idaho.
